Serious buyers reaffirm Yarnex relevance in the textile industry

Over 3,514 visitors attend the third edition of Yarnex

Strategic contacts and business opportunities were the key factors that induced the over 49 exhibitors from the yarn and fibers sector to participate at the Yarnex - India International Yarn Exhibition 2011, held between September 9 - 11, 2011 at the India Knit Fair Complex in Tirupur, South India. This was the third successful version of the show since it was first launched in 2009 by S S Textile Media Pvt. Ltd., organizers of the show.

Yarnex 2011 attracted 3,514 buyers and witnessed significant new entries from  international exhibitors and major yarn and fiber manufacturers like Reliance Industries Limited, INVISTA Sales & Service India Private Limited, Grasim Industries Limited (Birla Cellulose), GTN Industries Ltd., Pallavaa Group, PKPN Spinning Mills Pvt. Ltd., Vardhman Textiles Limited,  demonstrating the importance of the trade platform within the upstream yarns and fiber industry.

Yarnex 2011 brought together major players and experts and featured latest product displays. The participants showcased their collections of yarns and fibres ranging from natural fibres made from cotton, wool, silk, milk, and linen/ramie to regenerated and synthetic man-made, fibres and yarns as well as fancy blended yarns.

The event proved to be the platform for manufacturers and suppliers worldwide to reach buyers and sellers not only from Tirupur and the surrounding areas like Coimbatore, Salem, Karur, and Chennai, but also from cities like Mumbai, New Delhi and the NCR (National Capital Region), Bangalore, Kolkata, etc. As has been in the previous editions, there were a number of buyers from countries as diverse as the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Korea, UAE, Egypt, Japan, China, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, who came in specially for the show. The show helped to exchange market information, learn the latest innovations, gain views of experts and make direct business contacts within the knitting, weaving, textile, dyeing, garmenting, and related supporting industries.

Companies like INVISTA Sales and Service India Pvt Ltd, used the Business Networking Forum to introduce and educate the buyers about the virtues of their Lycra range of fibers, while Birla Cellulose held a separate event to promote their spun yarn to the south India market.

High praise from exhibitors continued throughout the event, as agents, traders and end product use managers were attracted to the fair to source upstream yarns and fibres.  “The show has matched our expectations by far, specifically the high levels of serious and professional buyers who are actually taking price quotations. We feel, 50 percent of the inquiries will be translated to actual orders," said Mr B. Adinarayana, Manager Marketing, Perfect Knitters Ltd., of the Hyderabad-based GTN Industries Ltd.
 
First time entrant Mr Roger Roongroj, Export Manager, Kongkiat Textile Co, Ltd, Thailand, exclaimed: "We have already run out of our business cards on the second day itself. People are showing very keen interest in our products, especially the fancy and melange yarn we had displayed."
  
Mr R. S. Baalagurunathan, Proprietor, Anandi Enterprises, Tirupur, was quite pleased that he had visitors from as far as the United Kingdom and Serbia at his stall. "Some of the overseas visitors have already placed spot orders for a couple of container loads right here at the stall," he said.
  
New enquiries, new customers even from overseas market, was the kind of experience that Mr Alakan Karuppannan, Head - Marketing, Business Innovation and Sustainability, Pallavaa Group, had at Yarnex 2011, an event the company has been supporting since the beginning.  "An European customer even placed an order worth US$300,000 on the spot!" he said.

New buyer, Mr Shehzad Patel, Director, U. P. Enterprises Ltd, United Kingdom found several new contacts and suppliers at the show.  "I have even placed a 60 ton order with one of the exhibitors," said Patel, who runs a knitting company in that country.

Mr James Samuel, General Manager, Art Yarn Exports who had come all the way from Mumbai, said "The show was fantastic. I found new suppliers and new items that I found interesting. Also, it's always nice meeting old colleagues at a venue like this."

Ms Sangeeta Sethia, CEO, Filatex Fashions Ltd, manufacturer of knitted socks based in Hyderabad, they were quite impressed with the large variety of fancy and blended yarn as well as the products displayed by the overseas exhibitors.

Qualified visitors, consisting mainly of factory owners and partners, technicians and engineers, managers, and trade professionals, amongst others flooded from the early morning of day one of
the show. Among the principal motives that lead these professionals to visit the event were to see the industry's new products and trends, meet the current trade partners / suppliers and maintain contact with colleagues, find new suppliers and meet international buyers.

Mr P. Krishnamurthy, CEO and Managing Director, S S Textile Media Pvt. Ltd, organizers of the show, summed up the mood: "Companies and factories, whether big or small are ready to experiment and discover solutions to enhance their competitiveness."

Dates for the next edition has already been announced. Yarnex 2012 will be held at the same venue India Knit Fair Complex, Tirupur on 31st August, 1st & 2nd September 2012.
